Grief, Loss and Change Training & Coaching

The purpose of this training and coaching is to better equip managers and employees to understand and manage these stressful challenges when they occur. 

 

Timely and effective support is essential to maintain well-being and performance at all times but especially in times of high emotional stress. 

 

I provide both proactive and responsive training and coaching around Grief, Loss and Change.

Most employers buy in to EAP services, however, employees do not always trust this as a resource and it may not always be the right path for individuals.  This is supported by my research findings where HR Directors reported this theme and the poor uptake of EAP services.

Caring for my mother, and her death in 2020, was an incredibly stressful and challenging time.  My coaching training, personal experiences and further studies around grief and loss, as well as my client grief coaching, have given me a solid grounding in working with grief, loss and change in its many forms - from the death of a loved one, colleague, or pet, to the loss of a relationship and changes such as redundancy or retirement.

 

My bespoke training and coaching helps organisations better support its employees, and help those supporting employees, so they may restore themselves following the stress of grief, loss and change and return to their healthiest selves.

Grief and Loss Awareness Training - Group Training

For:                   HR Directors / Managers / Employees

Delivery:           Online

Length:             90 minutes

Group size:       20 delegates maximum

Grief and loss affect us all at some point in our lives.  The feelings that arise as part of grief and loss are completely normal but can sometimes feel overwhelming.  This training is designed to build an understanding and confidence around grief and loss while providing practical tools and ways of thinking and being, to help you support yourself and others.

The Grief Awareness Training includes:

  • The psychological, emotional and physiological changes we can experience during grief and loss. 

  • Grief processing theory vs the reality of processing grief.

  • Misconceptions about grief and loss - helpful and unhelpful generational and cultural beliefs.

  • Practical ways we can help support ourselves and others when grieving - what to say and do.

  • Barriers to 'good grieving' and what we can think and do differently.

  • Coaching skills and questions to support grieving colleagues​​.

  • Suggested simple and effective coaching techniques. 

  • An opportunity for Q and A.

Grief, Loss and Change Coaching - One to One Coaching

For:                   Employees experiencing significant grief, loss and change

Delivery:           Online

Length:             60 minute sessions (minimum 4 sessions)

Group size:       One to One

Sometimes grief, loss and change requires personalised support to help us adjust and recover from stresses of these challenging times.  Whether it be bereavement, retirement, redundancy, changes in relationships or other significant life changes, my one to one coaching helps facilitate a quicker return to health and greater capacity at work.  All sessions are entirely confidential.

 

One to One Coaching includes:

  • Bespoke coaching to support employees in their processing and recovery from grief, loss or change.

  • Use of coaching to help individuals reflect on the changes, understand the impact of the changes and accommodate them into their life.

  • Structured or organic coaching sessions depending on goals, needs and wants of the client.

  • Practical suggestions to aide in the recovery and processing of the emotional and psychological pain associated with the changes the client is experiencing or has experienced.

  • Coaching support for those experiencing grief associated with bereavement who also have the added demand of maintaining 'normal' life and employment while grieving.

  • Guidance to help clients create the support and systems required to ensure that their needs are met both personally and professionally during this challenging time.

  • Availability to support clients between coaching sessions.*

Managers Supporting Colleagues - One to One Coaching

For:                   Managers Supporting Colleagues

Delivery:           Online

Length:             60 minute sessions (minimum 3 sessions)

Group size:       One to One

Managers also require support, especially with topics like grief and loss, to help colleagues during these times.  This one to one coaching is designed to help managers gain the understanding and confidence to support teams or individuals who are experiencing grief, loss and / or change.  This coaching is bespoke to the client's needs and goals in relationship to their role and what their team is experiencing.  All sessions are entirely confidential.

 

One to One Coaching includes:

  • Bespoke coaching to help managers best support their team or individuals during a time of grief, loss or change.

  • Support and time to discuss and think about their challenges and ways forward with an impartial objective person.

  • Further personalised training and support around grief, loss and change and its impact on the team / individuals and manager.

  • Practical suggestions to aide in the support of team / individuals who are processing the emotional and psychological pain associated with the grief or loss they have experienced.

  • Coaching support around balancing the demands of workload while supporting team members.

  • Guidance to help managers create the support and systems required to ensure that work demands are met during this challenging time.

  • Availability to support clients between coaching sessions.*
